Hey There

Sophia is the host of Sew Social Charlotte, a group that began shortly following the pandemic as a means of reconnecting and rebuilding a sense of community. Sophia started sewing in middle school, however, became too much of a perfectionist and quickly stowed her sewing machine until 2020!

Now, nearly five years later with many sewing projects under her belt (including a reupholstered couch, bridal capelet, and many, many dresses), she enjoys exploring new techniques and applications.

All About Sew Social Charlotte

At Sew Social, individuals of all ages and skill levels can come together to sew, laugh, chat, and try new things. We love what we do, and we don't take ourselves too seriously.

During our events, attendees are welcome to bring their own sewing machine and a project they're working on, or sort through our bin of "instant gratification sewing tutorials" for beginner-level projects. Scrap fabric, a couple of extra sewing machines, and treats/drinks are typically also onsite. Our primary location for Sew Social events is Derita Design, a beautiful makerspace that offers its own mix of classes and workshops!

If you would like to stock up on sewing supplies, please visit Upcycle Arts for fabulous finds!
